NoticePlease read your policy carefully before you travel What am I covered for?Coverage is different for each plan: to find out what your coverage is, please read the section titled "Benefits" under the name of the plan/s you have purchased. Travel insurance is intended to cover sudden, unexpected, and unforeseeable circumstances. What is not covered?Travel insurance does not cover everything. Your insurance has exclusions, conditions and limitations. You should read and understand them before you travel. Pre-existing medical conditions may be excluded. Any medical conditions you are aware of prior to the effective date of coverage, whether diagnosed or not, may not be covered. What if I have an emergency or claim?Who is TIC?TIC has over 50 years of experience in the Canadian travel health insurance market and understands the unique insurance needs of visitors to Canada. We are committed to providing you with knowledgeable support and service when you need it most. TIC insurance plans are underwritten by Co-operators Life Insurance Company. TIC is a Canadian-owned part of Co-operators Group of companies, with assets exceeding $6 billion. You must notify the TIC claims department (toll fee 1-800-882-5246 or world wide collect 604-639-8849) within 48 hours of being admitted to a hospital and before any surgery is performed. Failure to do so, without reasonable cause, will reduce eligible expenses by 20%. To make a claim, fill out the Claim Form completely and include all original bills. Your medical history will be collected when required and will only be used or disclosed for the purpose of adjudicating your claim. Travel AssistanceAssistance for a medical emergency arising anywhere in the world is provided on a best effort basis, TIC, Cooperators Life Insurance Company, or their agents will not be responsible for the availability, quantity, quality, or results of any medical treatment received or for failure to obtain medical service. I want to stay longer; can I extend my policy?Yes, you can. Prior to your trip you can purchase additional coverage, or after departure just call your agent or TIC no sooner than seven days prior to the expiry of your policy. You can purchase an extension provided you call (during business hours) at least 48 hours prior to the expiry of your first coverage. You must indicate that you are in good health and do not have any claims filled with TIC. Extension fees will be charged. If the total length of the trip exceeds 35 days, the Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion EHM 8 will apply from the original date of departure for the current trip. Mandatory Statement of Health and ConsentWe require you to sign the declaration form if you are 71 years or older, or have purchased a multi-trip plan of 35 days or longer. Extended absence from CanadaEach provincial and territorial government health insurance plan has limitation on how long you can be out of the county to remain eligible for coverage.
